Hawaii Tabletopper

While I was in Hawaii my hubby helped me do some fabric shopping. One he liked I decided to make something out of. I used the Hawaii State Star from Carol Doak's Fabulous 50 Paper Pieced Stars book. I had to modify it to get the octagon shape -- just eliminated locations 8, 9, and 10. It came out pretty good. Even I like the fabric now.

Round 2 on Quilters Tribute

As soon as I finished February's round on the Yours Truly Round Robin, instructions for March's round were posted, so I got busy. I don't really like the corners but I used up two of the fabrics so I'm looking at some other options and may do some ripping and fixing.

Round 1 on Quilters Tribute

I finished the first round on my Yours Truly Round Robin. I'm trying to use all free blocks from the online group site and I'm trying to link each round to my love of quilting. This round uses very small fussy cut quilt blocks in the corners. And of course it has orange. It's only 2" wide. It's a little darker than I wanted but hopefully I can lighten it up in the next round. I finished this just in time. Carol posted the rules for round 3 today. I've picked out my block and cut the fabric and should be able to get it done this weekend. I ran out of 2 of the fabrics -- that's one of the problems with using Fat Quarters all the time -- so I haven't figured out what I'm gonna do in the corners. But maybe I can get both the next round and the March BOM done. Woo Hoo! It's gonna be a sewful weekend.

February BOM - Hearts Galore

I also finished my February BOM before I left on Vacation. This is in black white and red for a quilt for my son, Ben. I've got 6 blocks done so far. I took a picture of them all together. I really like the look. Today March's BOM was posted. Hopefully I can make that this weekend too.

F8s Finished

I was able to finish my F8s before I left for Hawaii. I had some real issues with the one for Karen. First block I made did NOT come out good at all. I didn't use much of the F8 provided so I decided to make a second block with it. I like Ruth's block so I decided to use the same design. Somehow I didn't check the settings and it printed out too small. So afterwards I had to add a border. It didn't come out great but at least I finished. The F8 swap is my favorite type of swap. This time I requested a specific block. When I get them all I'll make a wall hanging of them. I can't wait!

F8 Blocks Half Done

I only had a few hours of sewing today, but I was able get 2 of my swap blocks for my online F8 Swap done. I really wanted to work on two other projects for myself but everyone else in my swap group already has their blocks done and I don't want them to have to wait on me, so I'll be putting those blocks on high priority until I get all 4 done. I can't wait to get my blocks back from them. I have 4 house blocks coming that will make a cute wall hanging. This is a very busy week for me. I have physical therapy 2 nights, church 2 nights and am going to a friends house for the weekend. Then next week I'm on my way to Hawaii so I've gotta spend all my free time getting these done. The rest of the month is busy too. I have two challenges for the online group I need to get done this month too. Round 1 of the Yours Truly Round Robin and the February Block of the Month are both due before the end of the month, too. Glad this is a short week. Plus Lent starts this week, so I've gotta find a church near work offering mass on Ash Wednesday during the day. Busy Busy Busy! But tons of fun.
